The cinta senese is a rare breed of Italian pig. It Originates from Tuscani. In particular the area around Siena. Our female Evelina is very hardy and has reared a litter of 13 piglets out in the open with no fuss or bother. The breed is registered and a record is kept of litters and matings and pedigrees are issued to animals that conform to the standard. The meat is used locally to produce very good salamy and cured hams. It has a particularly good flvour. As piglets they do not carry a lot of fat.
